Non-repeating thermal bridges occur where building elements meet i.e. walls / floors or walls / roof and around windows. Psi (Ψ) Values are the numerical value used to measure the amount of heat loss from these junctions around a building. As part of the completion of a SAP Calculation all thermal junctions are measured and associated Ψ values entered into the calculation. Under part L, Ψ values do not need to be measured however, a default summary of the heat loss from these junctions of 0.15 (which can be used under Part L) will make it difficult for a building to comply with the Target Energy Efficiency (TFEE) target.
There are a number of accredited or calculated psi values which are available for use within a SAP Calculation from accredited bodies or insulation or building fabric manufacturers. Alternatively we can calculate your Ψ values for you to ensure that you have an accurate representation of how energy efficient your thermal junctions are. Once calculated these junctions can be used over and over on the same building fabric combination, representing a cost effective solution to complying with the TFEE and the TER under Part L and possibly avoid the incorporation of costly renewables. As we calculate your junctions we will also consult with you to maximise energy efficiency of the junctions, further reducing the heat loss from the fabric of your building.

If you would like us to calculate your Ψ values please contact us.
Whether we calculate your Ψ values and provide you with a certificate or not, we will always provide guidance for you as to the best Ψ values that are applicable for your project to ensure that your calculations are as thermally efficient as they can be.
How we can help:
- Assist in meeting and exceeding current and future regulations by helping to maximise fuel efficiency and use less energy.
- Possibly replace the need for renewable technology, or at least greatly reduce the number of solutions employed or the amount of renewable technology required.
- Enable your property to comply with the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH).
- Calculate the Ψ values for your non-repeating thermal bridges. Please get in touch.
