Grappling with the various requirements of the London Plan and borough-specific planning requirements can feel daunting.
Confusion over whether you’re a minor or major development can add to the stress.
“We’re here to help you with all that and advise you on the best way to achieve the 35% reduction in CO2 emissions or your zero-carbon target,” says Anthony Dale, senior sustainability consultant at Darren Evans.
The revised London Plan was due to be published in March 2020, but has been delayed.

However, many London boroughs already require construction projects to meet these new requirements to gain planning permission.
The main expected changes to the updated London Plan include:
- Monitoring energy performance post-completion
- All major developments will have to be zero carbon
- Additional targets for fabric performance
- Major developments will require a whole life-cycle carbon emissions study
- SAP 10 carbon factors are still important

- It’s normal not to know what you need to do
“It’s incredibly common not to know what you need to do to meet the London Plan requirements, especially as requirements can differ between boroughs,” explains Anthony.“We’ll give you a range of solutions and work with you to select the best one.” - Mixed use developments can get complicated
It can get complicated with mixed use developments that have dwellings, commercial units and joint communal areas. We can carry out all types of assessments and can combine these to create a site-wide picture to make sure your whole development is achieving the relevant individual and site-wide targets.
